This Week in Berkeley: Sign Up for Nixle

New system contacts residents to prepare for emergencies.

This is the week to begin signing up to Berkeley Township's new Nixle notification system.

To sign up to receive e-mails and text messages, residents must register. To register both your e-mail address and cellular phone number click here:https://local.nixle.com/register/ Or to sign up for text messages only, simply text your zip code to 888777.

"This new service is in addition to our Reverse 9-1-1 Notification System implemented earlier this year. By signing up for this service, you will receive real-time alerts and advisories directly from Berkeley Township." Mayor Carmen Amato said in a statement. "

 During emergencies when critical information needs to be distributed, all residents will be contacted. The resident opt-in, where they will be able to provide the township additional phone numbers and e-mail information is,

Also, residents can learn more about this program and more tonight at the Berkeley Township Council at Town Hall, 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road, Bayville, at 7:00 p.m.
