The paralyzed Lacey firefighter and Union City police officer was laid to rest Friday
Before the casket draped with an American flag was placed on the back of a Lanoka Harbor fire truck to be transported to its resting place, bagpipes sounded to “Amazing Grace.” An emergency scanner went off with a member of the Ocean County Sherriff’s Department speaking in honor of Daniel Inglis Jr. “You will be sorely missed but not forgotten. Rest in peace Daniel,” the scanner said. Inglis, 25, of Lanoka Harbor — a police officer with the Union City Police Department and a volunteer with the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department — died on Monday, a year and six days after he suffered paralyzing injuries due to a motor vehicle accident. Services for Daniel will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Route 9 in Forked River from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3. The funeral service will be on Friday, Jan. 4 at the Lanoka Harbor
The Inglis family reported that Daniel, a former Union City cop and Lanoka Harbor firefighter who became a quadriplegic after a motor vehicle accident on Christmas Eve in 2011, has died. “This morning our beautiful son became an angel in Heaven, God needed him to protect us from above now,” the family wrote on the “Support for Daniel Inglis” Facebook page. “Daniel is at peace, it was his time, even though some might say he was too young, he accomplished so much, loved so many, and made an unforgettable impression on everyone he touched.” Daniel Inglis, 25, was leaving the Lincoln Tunnel when he got into a single-car accident and found himself in the Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City just more than a year ago. Chevrolet Suburban left roadway, according to police report
A 41-year-old Beachwood man is being treated for neck and chest injuries at Atlantic City Medical Center, following a Saturday morning car crash on Western Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor. Timothy Dellapietro, Windwood Drive, was traveling north at approximately 7 a.m. when his 1993 Chevrolet Suburban left the roadway and struck a business sign, stop sign, fire hydrant, mailbox and utility pole, according to a Lacey Township police report. The utility pole was knocked down and came to rest in the street. Dellapietro, who was the only occupant of the Suburban, was ejected from the vehicle.
