Household Hazardous Waste Collection Set for This Week
County expanding program in the wake of Superstorm Sandy
Ocean County residents will be able to drop off household hazardous waste this week at several locations countywide. The county traditionally holds household hazardous waste collections in the fall and spring, but expanded the program this year in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. "In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and with so many homes having suffered water damage resulting in houses being emptied out in order to begin repairs, there is need for these additional collection days,” said Freeholder James F. Lacey in a statement Monday. I hope there will be some sort of DPW or recycling attendants or police/fire there or I see a big disaster in the making at the Brick High School. If people couldn't even obey a state of emergency and traffic ban, then I can only imagine the toxic mess that will happen at the high school with people dumping dangerous chemicals haphazardly over there!
