But breaches at Island Beach State Park means state needs to do more to protect residents of South Seaside Park and Bayville

I am a resident of Midway Beach in the South Seaside Park section of Berkeley Township. Our community has been blessed and was spared from the worst of Sandy’s rage. The neighboring communities to the north and Island Beach State Park to the south experienced ocean storm surges that washed across the island, destroying and wiping away nearly everything that was in the way. The entire section of Berkeley Township’s dunes, excluding those in Island Beach State Park, held back the ocean and protected ocean side properties from the crashing waves. South Seaside Park resident Courtney Chibarro and a host of volunteers spread some holiday joy on the barrier island
Dec. 23, 2012 will go down in Courtney Chibarro's memory as one of the best days of her life. "It was amazing," a tired, but happy Chibarro said Sunday night. Chibarro and a group of volunteers wanted to bring some happiness to those who are still reeling from the storm, even the first responders who have stood guard over the island in the cold and darkness. The Christmas caravan started off with a little party at Salon Allure in Toms River, where the donations had been dropped off…

A family who owns a home on Fourth Lane in Midway Beach in South Seaside Park came to the June 12 Township Council meeting to voice their concerns about rowdy underage drinkers who partied more than 12 hours one day over Memorial Day weekend. "We will continue to call the police and regrettably make a nuisance of ourselves," said William Wynne, whose wife's family has owned a bungalow in Midway Beach since 1995. Wynne said problems began on May 27 of Memorial Day weekend, when a dozen out-of-state young people piled into a nearby bungalow and began to party around 1 p.m. "We listened to them brag about how they intended to enjoy a "Jersey Shore" weekend," Wynne said, a reference to the…
