Megan Otte's death has been labeled suspicious pending results of toxicology tests, police chief says
The body of a woman indicted on animal cruelty charges last year was found in a Forked River home last week. The death of Megan Otte, 22 is being investigated by Lacey police, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, the Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department's Criminalistics Investigation Unit, Lacey Police Chief David A. Paprota said. Police were called to the home at 325 Yorktown Drive at 12:57 p.m. on April 12 on a report of an unresponsive female, he said. Megan Otte, 22 was pronounced dead at the scene. Two Bayville men were charged in incident
A Forked River man lost a portion of his ear after a fight erupted in the parking lot of the Forked River House early Sunday morning, police said. Police responded to the Forked River bar and restaurant at 2:55 a.m. Sunday and arrested Brian Schremmer, 24, and Curt Schremmer, 26, both of Bayville. Brian Schremmer was charge with aggravated assault for injuring the unnamed 31-year-old Forked River male, police said. The male victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with injuries to his face and eye. He also lost a portion of one of his ears, which was located by an officer and sent to the hospital, police said. Brian Schremmer was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River. A Forked River woman whom police say left a dog behind that starved to death when she moved out of a home has been indicted on a count of animal cruelty. Megan Otte, 21, was indicted on a count of third-degree animal cruelty by an Ocean County grand jury, sitting in Toms River, on Thursday in the death of Ruger, the mixed breed dog found dead in a dog crate in an empty house in June. Otte was arrested June 26 by Lacey police after Ruger's body was discovered in the crate by police investigating a suspicious odor at a Pensacola Road address. An investigation by Officer Paul Sullivan and Officer Paul Schlossbach of the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals found that Otte moved from the Pensacola Road home and left …

Motor vehicle accident leaves local Christian church with significant damage
A motor vehicle accident in the morning’s early hours has left two local men injured and one church building with significant damage. At approximately 12:45 a.m. this morning, a 2007 Mazda operated by Lanoka Harbor resident Randy Rozell was traveling on Route 9, in the vicinity of Bay Way. At that time, police reported, the vehicle left the roadway, became airborne, and collided with the Lighthouse Christian Church, which is located at the corner of Route 9 and Bay Way. The church was left with “extensive damage” in the crash, according to authorities. Rozell was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for evaluation of head injuries, in addition to being charged with DWI and numerous other motor vehicle violations…
