Bayville resident William Needham charged with burglarizing multiple homes
The apprehension of a Bayville man charged with burglarizing multiple area homes in Toms River is being called "prime example of teamwork" between residents and police departments. Based off of information from a March 1 burglary, subsequent investigation and cooperation from neighboring officers, Toms River police charged William Needham, 26, of Bayville, with breaking into multiple homes, according to Police Chief Michael G. Mastronardy. Officer Eric Divone responded to a residential burglary on Lester Road at 1 p.m. on March 1, after the homeowner received a call from a neighbor that a suspicious truck was parked in their driveway. A Bayville man is being held in jail on $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option after Toms River police responded to a shoplifting call at the Ocean County Mall Sunday and allegedly found him in possession of heroin. Police were called at about 5 p.m. to the Sears at the mall where loss prevention officers at the store were holding 27-year-old Christopher Wells on suspicion of stealing power tools valued at $500, according to Police Chief Michael G. Mastronardy. An investigation by Officers Brent Mundy and Robert Burczyk found that Wells allegedly left the store with the tools and began to assault store security, Mastronardy said. Lawrence Young allegedly robbed and assaulted a juvenile male
A Bayville man was arrested after he allegedly robbed and assaulted a juvenile at a Lacey park, Lacey police said. Lawrence Young, 18, was arrested after police responded to an assault at the intersection of Beverly Road and Earie Way at 3:57 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1. Police determined that a “strong-arm” robbery, which began at Bud Mezara Park, occurred, police said. During the robbery, a 16-year-old male victim sustained a facial injury, police said. He was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment. Young was charged with second degree robbery and aggravated assault. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River. His bail was set at $150,000, police said.
