Residents East of Bayview Avenue Told to Evacuate Again
Flooding is possible from oncoming nor'easter, officials say
Berkeley Township police have issued an evacuation order for all residents who live east of Bayview Avenue. The notice posted on the police department's Facebook page reads: "The Berkeley Township OEM (Office of Emergency Management) is advising that due to the impending Nor'Easter storm, a mandatory evacuation for homes east of Bayview Avenue has been ordered." "High winds and flooding to areas already hit by Hurricane Sandy are expected. Residents can use the shelter at Central Regional High School for assistance and supplies." At Saturday's emergency meeting of the Township Council, Police Chief Karin DiMichele and Mayor Carmen Amato urged residents to heed any evacuation warnings.
