Saltiest food I have ever been served and the server fogot which were her tables. Used to be a good, local place, what happened? Will not go back.

love the Shady Rest Restaurant!! you guys need to offer coupons or gift cards online so out of staters can send to our fam and friends up there in NJ. :)))
and I would add the outside patio w/ flowers in full bloom in late spring early summer is incredible.
I've always had good food and good service here. Nice local place with a variable menu of good burgers, pizza ( since 1964? ) steak, fresh seafood and salads. Prices reasonable. Couple of years ago they were a little pricier but with this down turned economy they corrected / lowered their prices.
The patio looks charming. The food is awful and the prices are worse. If I am going to pay 25$ or more then I will go to a clean restaurant with top noch food and service. Dont waste your money. I used to go there because its close to my house. No more. I will drive farther. I ordered stuffed flounder. It was not flounder. It was that sole crap from a box. Stuffed with crab meat- not!!. mostly bread crumbs and celery. My husband had shrimp scampi. * shrimp in a puddle of butter and 1 cup pasta on the side for 26$. Go somewhere else.
Very poor evening at Shady Rest Monday night. Finally, no wait to be seated, however our server was the worst. Took forever to get our drinks and appetizer, soup and sald made it to the table in to go containers only after our meals were served by the Bar Tender (and the server had just told us he thought that our salad and soup were in the window). Not once did he check up on us to see how things were or if we needed any thing. One would assume he was in the weeds, however the other gentleman server had his tables well under control and taken care of. Our server had a table walk out while were sittling there, he even took their drink and food order and never brought their drinks. Sorry... I talked my husband into going there, I was craving shrimp jammers and he was very upset and will not go back.
