What's Happening In Southern Ocean County This Weekend? Easter Egg Hunts!


Parents will have their pick of Easter Egg hunts this weekend, including a night egg hunt in Barnegat.

Locations include:

• Saturday - Berkeley Township:

The annual Easter Egg hunt gets underway by the concert stage at Veterans Park off Forest Hills Parkway in Bayville. The event begins at 1 p.m. sharp, rain or shine. The Easter Bunny is also scheduled to make an appearance. Parents must provide their children with their own baskets.

• Sunday - Lacey Township:

The Lacey Township First Aid Squad's annual Easter breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt is slated for Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Breakfast will be served at the squad building at 10 Oak Street in Forked River. The Easter egg hunt will be held at Deerhead Lake. Tickets are $8 for adults and children. Admission for children under 2 is free. The Easter Bunny will also be on hand to pose for photos. Please bring your own camera. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the family of Dan Inglis, a captain in the Lanoka Harbor Fire Company who recently suffered severe head injuries.

•  Sunday - Lacey Lodge # 2518 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt and Breakfast event on Sunday, April 13, 2014. The event is open to the public and will be held rain or shine. The egg hunt begins at 12 noon. Breakfast is served from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Admission donation is $7 for adults, $5 for children three and over. Children under three eat free. Special appearance by the Easter Bunny.

SATURDAY - Barnegat Township Educational Foundation will hold an Easter Egg Hunt in the dark. Registration for preschoolers and toddlers is at 7 p.m. Registration for children K-5 is at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Project Playground across from the Barnegat High School football field. Admission is $5. There will also be a variety of Easter gift baskets. Please bring a flashlight and a container for eggs. Each child will receive 10 filled eggs. Rain date is Sunday.

SUNDAY - Stafford Township Recreation Department Spring Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Town Hall at 260 East Bay Avenue in Manahawkin. The event will feature an egg hunt, the Easter Bunny, flowers for sale, train rides, inflatable bounce houses and food. The rain date is April 18.
