Seven Things Happening in Berkeley This Week

The Ocean County Fair runs from Tuesday through Sunday at the Robert J. Miller Airpark on Route 530

 

Monday - Learn how to seine in Barnegat Bay and discover the creatures that live in it at Island Beach State Park. Free daily tour starts at 1 p.m. Please pre-register at Ocean Bathing Pavilion #1. For more information, call the park at 732-793-0506.

Tuesday - Tales from Beyond - 7 p.m. Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library. Hear true stories about Lizzie Borden, Jack the Ripper and see real artifacts like a Titanic ticket, a Haitian voodoo doll and Jivaro shrunken heads. ages 13-18. Please register online or call 732-269-2144.

Tuesday - Get your blood pressure checked by the Ocean County Health Department from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library at 30 Station Road in Bayville. No registration is needed. For more information, call 732-269-2144.

Tuesday - Berkeley Township Council, 7 p.m. Town Hall, 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road. Caucus meeting starts at 7 p.m., followed immediately by regular council meeting. A public hearing on the 2012 municipal budget starts at 7.Hint: most of the discussion and public comment takes place at the caucus meeting.

Tuesday - The 2012 Ocean County Fair kicks off at 5 p.m. at Robert J. Miller Airpark on Route 530. The fair will run through Sunday. Berkeley Patch will post each day's events during the week.

Wednesday - Berkeley Township's summer concert series continues with a performance by Hotel California, an Eagles tribute band. The event gets underway at 6 p.m. in Veterans Park in Bayville.

Thursday - Berkeley Township Historical Society, 7 p.m. Berkeley Township Recreation Building, Route 9, Bayville.

Thursday - Bingo night, sponsored by the Bingo Club, Clubhouse #2, Port Royal Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.
