UPDATE: Twelve Things Happening in Berkeley This Week

Meetings, Island Beach State Park and more

 

Monday - Learn how to seine in Barnegat Bay and discover the creatures that live in it at Island Beach State Park. Free daily tour starts at 1 p.m. Please pre-register at Ocean Bathing Pavilion #1. For more information, call the park at 732-793-0506.

Monday - Sunset hike along the Barnegat Bay, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Island Beach State Park. Fee is $5 per person. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call 732-793-0506.

Tuesday - Berkeley Township Council, 7 p.m. Town Hall, 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road. Caucus starts at 7, followed immediately regular meeting. Hint: most of the discussion takes place at the caucus. The room pretty much empties out by the regular meeting.

Tuesday - Members of the Ocean County Health Department will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for free blood pressure screenings. Walk-ins are welcome, no registration is needed.

Wednesday - Summer beach party in South Seaside Park, 5 p.m., 23rd Avenue beach. Live concert by "Little Deuce Coupe," postponed from last week


Thursday - Surf Fishing Clinic, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Island Beach State Park. Ages 10 and up, minors must be accompanied by an adult. Fee is $10, pre-registration is required. For more information, call 732-793-0506. Anyone over 14 must register with the state saltwater fishing registry at www.nj.gov/dep/saltwaterregistry.

Thursday - Woof Tales: Read to the therapy dog, 4  p.m. Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. For all young readers.

Thursday - Central Regional Board of Education, 7 p.m., board meeting room, Central Regional High School, Forest Hills Parkway, Bayville.

Thursday - Berkeley Township Board of Education, 6:30 p.m., Berkeley Township Elementary School, 10 Emory Avenue, Bayville.

Thursday - Bingo night, sponsored by the Bingo Club, Clubhouse #2, Port Royal Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday - Carnival at Crystal Lake Healthcare, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., 395 Lakeside Boulevard. Pony rides, games, vendors and food.

So both Central and Berkeley's board meetings are this Thursday? Why are they always on the same night???
