Three Incumbents Running Unopposed For Central Regional Board of Education Seats

Two three-year terms and one unexpired term on board up this year

 

The candidates for the three seats up on the Central Regional Board of Education won't have to worry about campaign fliers or debates before the November election.

Board President and board member and Mackres are running unopposed this year. Buscio and Everett are seeking the three-year seats.

Nick Mackres, Halsey Avenue, is running for the available one-year unexpired term.

Everett, Arlington Avenue South,is seeking his second term on the board.

Buscio, Orsaf Lane, is serving his fifth term on the board. He has a long history with Central Regional, Board Administrator/Board Secretary Kevin O'Shea said.

Buscio lived in Ocean Gate early on, and was elected as the Ocean Gate representative from 1989 to 1992. He was appointed to an unexpired term in 2002-2003. He was again elected in 2003, but resigned in August 2004 when he moved to Berkeley. He was appointed as a Berkeley Township representative on the board in December 2005 and served until 2006. He was re-elected to three-year terms in 2006 and 2009, O'Shea said.

The member board has representatives from all five sending districts - Berkeley Township, Ocean Gate, Island Heights, Seaside Heights and Seaside Park.
