Saying Goodbye To A Popular Teacher

Funeral arrangements for Central Regional Middle School teacher David Vignevic announced

The family, friends and students of Central Regional Middle School teacher David F. Vignevic will be able to pay their respects at viewings today and his funeral on Thursday.

Vignevic, 34, Toms River, died early Saturday morning in a one-car crash in Manchester Township, when his Honda Accord struck a utility pole, overturned, then hit a tree, Manchester Township police have said.

Two viewings are slated for Wednesday - one from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. andanother from  7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, according to his obituary on Legacy.com.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph R.C. Church on Hooper Avenue in Toms River. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made for a scholarship in David's name to Central Regional Education Association Philanthropic Fund.

Vignevic, a Toms River High School North graduate, graduated from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi, with a degree in Professional Golf Course Management in 2001. He later earned a teaching degree from Georgian Court University.

"He found his calling as a Social Studies teacher and taught at the Central Regional Middle School for the past seven years," his obituary states. "There he coached baseball, basketball and cross-country. David loved teaching his students and spending time with his family and friends."


Vignevic is survived by his parents, Nicholas and Carol Vignevic of Toms River; his grandmother, Catherine Kolich of Port Vue, PA; one brother, Peter Vignevic and his wife Michelle of San Diego, CA; and one sister, Catherine Goodall and her husband Peter of Toms River.

Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Jack, Michael and Kelly Goodall, and Jake and Kara Vignevic; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was also godfather of Kelly Goodall and Kara Vignevic, according to his obituary.
