Hardy, Other Stellar Central Athletes Headed Off To College In The Fall

All three young men played a large part in Central's successes over the past few years

Central Regional will remember their names.

For several years, Kalyph Hardy, Kyle Barker and Josh Dwight have made their marks on the Golden Eagle playing fields.

Now all three have committed to play football for colleges and universities in New Jersey and Maryland this fall.

Kalyph Hardy, Central Regional’s all-time rushing leader with 5,000 career yards, will be a running back for the Kean University Cougars, schools Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides said.

Hardy was voted All-State by the Star Ledger and All-Shore by the Asbury Park Press. WOBM Ocean County’s Offensive Player of the Year by WOBM and the Star Ledger in 2011.  He was no slouch in the wrestling department either and was Central's first Region VI champion in five years and finished third in the state in his weight class in March 2011. Hardy will major in criminal justice/sociology at Kean.

Defensive back Kyle Barker, a three-year starter for the Golden Eagles, will play football as a “Green Terror” defensive back for McDaniel College in Maryland.  Kyle received the Academic All-Shore Football Team Award and was an integral part of Central Regional’s first winning season since 2001.  Kyle will major in exercise science at McDaniel, Parlapanides said.

Josh Dwight, captain of Central's Regional's 2011 football team, is heading to Fairleigh Dickinson University as a "Devil" wide receiver. The three-year starter and leading wide received helped the Golden Eagles make it to the NJSIAA state playoffs for the first time in 10 years.Dwight plans to major in communications at Fairleigh Dickinson, the superintendent said.
