Five Things Happening in Berkeley This Week

Storytelling, Gangwise and more

 

Monday - Township Council members James J. Byrnes, Kevin Askew and John Bacchione are holding a "Meet Your Councilman" open house from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Town Hall, 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road. The three will be on hand to discuss residents' concerns and answer questions. Byrnes and Askew have filed to run for the Ward 1 and Ward 2 council seats up this year.

Tuesday - Central Regional Middle School is holding a "Family Literacy Night" from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Professional storyteller Gerald Fierst will present "Stories From Around The World." Students will also read. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The event is sponsored by the Central Regional Education Association.

Wednesday- The Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library is hosting "Gangwise," an informational session on the general warning signs of gang affiliation. Topics to be covered include why kids join gangs, brief history of gangs, gang markings, colors and symbols, clothing, gangs in school and pop culture and gang graffiti. The event begins at 6 p.m. at the branch at 30 Station Road, Bayville. Register online or by calling 732-269-2144.

Thursday - Bingo night, sponsored by the Bingo Club, Clubhouse #2, Port Royal Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.
