Berkeley Boy Comes Out a Winner in Poster Contest
Emil Orbelyan beats out 300 students in New Jersey Natural Gas 'Conserve to Preserve' program
A Berkeley Township Elementary School student earned $1,000 for his school when he was recently chosen as a winner of a New Jersey Natural Gas poster contest.
Emil Orbelyan beat out over 300 students from schools throughout NJNG’s service territory.
Emil’s drawing shows a man turning off the lights when he leaves for work, with money flowing out of the electric meter and into his pocket. The slogan reads, “Turn it off. It’ll pay $$$.”

“The students submitted works of art that truly exemplify what Conserve to Preserve is all about,” said a NJNG spokesperson.
The posters were judged on creativity, content accuracy and overall presentation.
Emil received a congratulatory plaque from the township Board of Education. He was also introduced at the annual shareholders meeting of New Jersey Resources, the parent company of New Jersey Natural Gas.
Emil was awarded a laptop computer in addition to the $1,000. The money will go toward an energy conservation or environmental beautification project at the Berkeley Township Elementary School.
