Eagle Scout Project adds to Little League Park

Boy scout completes eagle scout project, installs benches, pavers and build flower box.

Recently Boy Scout Troop 83’s Jonathon Starego completed his
Eagle Scout Community Project with lots of help from his friends at the
Berkeley Little League’s Moorage Baseball Complex.

Jonathon worked closely with the league to help design a functional
& decorative sitting area in front of the Volunteer Community Center. The
project features three benches, a paver patio and a block flower box.

Scout Leader Mike Lawlor said “We always like to work with other
nonprofit organizations in our home towns, it helps build a sense of community.”

Berkeley Little League President Bob Everett agreed: “It’s great
when one of our ball players want to give back to the league. We have worked with
several scouts over the years and they have all built wonderful projects that
really help show the pride in our park.”

Eggen Landscaping of Bayville generously donated the patio
paver blocks and helped give the scouts some pointers on installing them. The
area is located near the playground and gives folks a place to comfortably
relax while watching children on the on the jungle gym, wait for a ride after
practice or watch a game on the field.

Scouts and supporters that helped Jonathon included Max Giordino
and his dad John, Jacob Freer, Kurt Hartig, Nate Barret, Josh Packen and his dad
Scott, Anthony Giordano and his dad Tony, and Jonathon’s family, older brother
Rob and his mom Joan & dad Bob.

After giving the project a week to settle, Jon and his mom
Joan came back to plant some spring bulbs and  fall perennials to put the final touches on their
terrifc project. His mom Joan had the last word “ I can wait to come back in
the spring and see it in full bloom!”
