Berkeley residents whose garbage pickup is slated for Wednesday will have to wait another two days, until Jan. 24, Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. said.

"We do regret this inconvenience," the mayor said.

Garbage pickup schedules were already behind one day because of the Martin Luther King holiday on Jan. 20.

However, Amato said recycling pickups will be on schedule for Wednesday. Any residents with sanitation and recycling questions can call 732-349-4616.

Berkeley Township Municipal Court is also cancelled for Wednesday, said Deputy Court Administrator Cynthia Walsh. All cases will be rescheduled.

In another storm-related matter, the Ocean County Road Department has closed the Birch Street bridge over the Garden State Parkway until the storm subsides.

Berkeley Township and Central Regional Schools will also be closed on Wednesday and all after-school activities are cancelled.

Toms River picked up their garbage today. Was supposed to be Monday, but due to the holiday everything was a day off.

Don't worry about it clowns, they'll come when they come. Leave your big cans out at the curb and make sure your recycles are secure and don't blow away.

The town website, The Patch, two emails and two text messages CLEARLY STATED that Wednesday garbage collection was delayed until FRIDAY... I thought it strange, but they announced it in so many ways that we didn't put our container out.. and GUESS WHAT, MAYOR AMATO... they came today, THURSDAY! My husband got in his car and found the truck a few streets away- the sanitation man was ADAMANT that it was the Tuesday pickups that were delayed???? Let's get our story straight, please! The last time this happened, we called for a pick up and were DENIED! (that's why my husband found the truck and asked him to come back). Before an agency sends out so many messages, let's make sure that EVERYONE gets the right information, please!!!
