Two Bayville Men Face Numerous Charges in Pellet Gun Attack on Boys

Berkeley detective likens incident to a 'drive-by' shooting

Two Eastern Boulevard men were recently arrested and charged with shooting two neighborhood children with an Airsoft pellet gun, Detective Peter LaRocca said.

Cody Lessing, 19, and Donald Eadicicco, 18, were both charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and leaving an injured victim in connection with the Aug. 6 incident, he said.

Lessing and two other men were riding down Eastern Boulevard in a Jeep Cherokee around 6 p.m. when they began arguing with two boys, ages 10 and 11. The boys were riding their bikes, LaRocca said.

Lessing left the scene in the Jeep, picked up Eadicicco, then returned to Eastern Boulevard. Lessing is accused of shooting one boy in the head area, which also affected his eye. The boy was taken to Community Medical Center for treatment, LaRocca said.

Eadicicco is accused of shooting the other boy in the face, LaRocca said.

"It was like a drive-by shooting," he said.

Airsoft pellet guns - which cost between $200 to $300 - are shaped like a real gun and fire plastic pellets, LaRocca said.

"They look like a handgun," he said. "They are very painful."

Both men were arrested at the Bayville McDonalds on Route 9 a short time later by Patrolwoman Tammy Clermont, Patrolman John Fosbre and Patrolman Jay Malley, LaRocca said.

Randolph Dailey, 19, Bayville, another passenger in the car, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police found a metal smoke pipe in the Jeep, he said.

Municipal Court Judge John J. Sheehy set bail for each man at $50,000, with no ten percent option. They were taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, LaRocca said.
