Lots to do at the Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library this week; stargazing

 

Monday - Learn how to seine in Barnegat Bay and discover the creatures that live in it at Island Beach State Park. Free daily tour starts at 1 p.m. Please pre-register at Ocean Bathing Pavilion #1. For more information, call the park at 732-793-0506.

Tuesday - The State Department of Environmental Protection will hold it annual public information session and public hearing on the state's Nuclear Emergency Response Plan for the Oyster Creek Generating Station and New Jersey's three other nuclear plants. Ocean County Administration Building, Room 119, Toms River. Information session starts at 6 p.m., followed by public hearing at 7 p.m.

Tuesday - Sing the Night Away, 6 p.m., Karaoke night at the Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. Ages 13-18. Please register either online or by calling 732-269-2144.

Wednesday - Ocean County Board of Freeholders, 4 p.m., room 119, Ocean County Administration Building, 101 Hooper Avenue, Toms River.

Wednesday - An American Girl pajama party, 6:30 p.m., Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. Ages 6 to 12. Register online or call 732-269-2144.

Thursday - Woof Tales: Read to the dog. 4 p.m., Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. 

Thursday - Bingo night, sponsored by the Bingo Club, Clubhouse #2, Port Royal Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.

Friday - Rock n' Roll Over Dead - a murder mystery dinner for ages 13-18, at 6 p.m at the Berkeley Branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. Register online or call 732-269-2144.

Saturday - Starlab Planetarium, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. John Miller from the Pearl Observatory will use a portable planetarium to show how to locate planets, stars and constellations. For ages 5-12. Please register for one of the two showings either online or call 732-269-2144.

Saturday - Night of the Stars at Jakes Branch County Park, 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., nature center. Join members of A.S.T.R.A. (Astronomical Society of the Toms River Area) for a short presentation, followed by hands-on viewing through telescopes. No registration required. Participants may bring their own telescopes.
