Zombies, summer concert, fireworks, meetings and more

 

Monday  - 10 Things Every Writer Should Know, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. Author Jon Gibbs will discuss the best ways of getting published.

Tuesday - Berkeley Township Council, 7 p.m., Town Hall, 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road. The caucus meeting starts at 7 p.m., followed immediately by the regular council meeting. Hint: most of the discussion takes place at the caucus meeting.

Wednesday - Berkeley Township's 2012 Summer Concert series kicks off with performances by "Big Shot," a Billy Joel tribute band and Rock n' Rhythm at 6 p.m. in Veterans Park in Bayville. The night will be capped off with a fireworks display.

Wednesday - Upper Cedar Creek paddling trip from Dover Forge to Double Trouble. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Pickup is in the parking lot of Double Trouble State Park on Pinewald-Keswick Road. The cost for the six-mile trip is $14 per person, $8 if bringing own canoe or river kayak. Participants must pre-register with the Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation. Wednesday - Special meeting of the Board of Adjustment on the controversial redevelopment of the old Santo Marina site on Williams Street in Bayville. Staten Island developer Ray Masucci wants to put up 19 single-family homes, a dockmaster's house, snack bar, marine store, a parking lot and redevelop the marina. The meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m. in Town Hall, 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road.

Wednesday - "Games of the Living Dead," 6:30 p.m., Berkeley Branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. Battle zombies and your fellow teens in video and board games. Bring your own games. For ages 13 to 18. Register either online or call 732-269-2144.

Thursday - Berkeley Township Board of Education, 6:30 p.m., 10 Emory Street, Bayville. Watch for discussion on the search for new permanent superintendent.

Thursday - Bingo night, sponsored by the Bingo Club, Clubhouse #2, Port Royal Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday - An afternoon of Mah Jongg, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. For more information call 732-269-2144.
