Nine Things Happening In And Around Berkeley This Week

There's plenty to do in the waning days of summer

 

Monday - Learn how to seine in Barnegat Bay and discover the creatures that live in it at Island Beach State Park. Free daily tour starts at 1 p.m. Please pre-register at Ocean Bathing Pavilion #1. For more information, call the park at 732-793-0506.

Monday - Hunger Games movie matinee, 2 p.m. for ages 13-18, at the Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. Register online at www.theoceancountylibrary.com or call 732-269-2144.

Monday - Sunset hike along the Barnegat Bay, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Island Beach State Park. Fee is $5 per person. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call 732-793-0506.

Tuesday - Make a bottle cap necklace, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m, Jakes Branch County Park, Double Trouble Road, Beachwood. Capture small treasures in epoxy resin to create unique accessories. Participants may bring photos and small items from home. The fee is $6. Ages 9 and up. There's a minimum class size of six and a maximum of 12, so call early to pre-register.

Wednesday - The last of the township's Summer Concert series gets underway at 6 p.m. in Veterans Park. The free event features the Duprees.

Thursday - Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. and Councilman James J. Byrnes will hold an "open house" from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the 3C's Luncheonette at 1001 Southwest Central Avenue in Seaside Park. The event is open to all residents. Soft drinks and refreshments will be provided.

Thursday - Bingo night, sponsored by the Bingo Club, Clubhouse #2, Port Royal Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.

Friday - Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart Tournament, 1 p.m., Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. Ages 13-18. For more information, call 732-269-2144.

Saturday - "Movie at the Beach," 8 p.m., Wildwood Avenue Beach, Ocean Gate.
