Ten Things Happening in Berkeley This Week

Graduations, golf tourney, blood drive, meetings fill the calendar

Monday - The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library at 30 Station Road in Bayville. For more information or to make a donation appointment, call 732-269-2144.

Monday - The Berkeley Little League is holding "Dollar Dog Night" at the league complex on Moorage Avenue. All hot dogs are $1. Toppings, which include chili, cheese, Sabrett onions and sauerkraut, are an extra $.25 cents.

Tuesday - It's primary Election Day in New Jersey. The polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Tuesday The Central Regional Middle School 8th Grade promotion ceremony gets underway 6 p.m. at the middle school on Forest Hills Parkway.

Tuesday - The Berkeley Branch of the Ocean County Library is hosting an English conversation group at 6:30 p.m. at the branch on 30 Station Road. The informal meeting is for people who are learning English.

Wednesday - The Central Regional High School graduation ceremony begins at 6 p.m. on the football field at the high school on Forest Hills Parkway. Guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean County. Members of Central Regional's advanced placement literature and composition classes will be at the field gates to collect the items as part of their final English project for the year.

Wednesday - The Berkeley Township Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Berkeley Township Recreation Department on 630 Route 9 South in Bayville.

Thursday - The 16th annual Mayor's Golf Classic will be held at the Cedar Creek Golf Course off Bill Zimmermann Jr. Drive. The cost is $85 person, which includes green fees, carts, continental breakfast and awards luncheon. The event is a major fundraiser for the township's summer concert series. Thursday - Berkeley Township Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Berkeley Township Elementary School on 10 Emory Avenue in Bayville. The board may discuss what the defeated budget cuts may have on personnel.

Saturday - Holiday City Shareowner Hoedown at Clubhouse II at the corner of Barbados Drive North and Port Royal Drive. Event features an all you can eat beefsteak dinner, dancing, music by Don Pesce. Tickets are $27. For more information, call Pat at 732-736-9816 or Maryanne at 732-244-8821.
