Six Things Happening in Berkeley This Week

Township Council, Autism Walk, Take Back Drugs and more

 

Tuesday - Berkeley Township Council, 7 p.m., Town Hall, 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road. Caucus meeting starts at 7 p.m., followed immediately by regular council meeting.

Thursday - Learn to Twist with the Philly Pretzel Factory - 6:30 p.m., Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library, 30 Station Road, Bayville. Celebrate "National Pretzel Day" at the library. Twist some dough and eat a handmade pretzel. For ages 6 and up. Pre-register online or call 732-269-2144.

Thursday - Bingo night, sponsored by the Bingo Club, Clubhouse #2, Port Royal Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.

Friday - The Central Regional Foundation & Renaissance will hold the The Cynthia Thatcher Scholarship Fundraiser from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Island Heights firehouse. The event honors Cynthia Thatcher, a Central Regional High School teacher who died last year. The beer and wine tasting event will go to support student fundraisers. Tickets are $25. Saturday - The Berkeley Township police department is participating in the Drug Enforcement Agency's National Take Back Drugs initiative. Residents may drop off unused or expired prescription medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library at the Holiday City at Berkeley clubhouse at 631 Jamaica Boulevard. A police officer will be on duty at the clubhouse.

Sunday - First Annual Community Walk for Autism Awareness, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Veterans Park, Bayville. The event will feature three live music acts, two D.J.s, bounce houses, pony rides, face painting, trackless train rides, a petting zoo, the Central Regional Golden Eagle mascot and mascots from the Berkeley school district. Buster from the Lakewood Blue Claws might also make an appearance. Walk gets underway at 11 a.m., no registration required.
