Five Things Happening in Berkeley This Week

A new police chief, summer concert, magic show all on tap this week

 

 

Monday - Lt. Karin T. DiMichele will be sworn in as Berkeley's next police chief at 11 a.m. in Town Hall at 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road. DiMichele, the department's first female police chief, will replace longtime Chief John C. Weinlein III, who retired effective July 31.

Wednesday - Berkeley Township's "Sounds of Summer" concert series continues at 6 p.m. in Veterans Park with performances by The Duprees and the RPM Band.

Thursday - Berkeley Township Planning Board - meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall at 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road. Slated for discussion is a proposed application to covert a temporary helistop at 100 Port Royal Drive to a permanent helistop.

 

Thursday - "Birding by Kayak" at Island Beach State Park, sponsored by the Friends of Island Beach State Park. Discover the joy of birding by paddling through the fragile Barnegat Bay estuarine ecosystem. The tour is for bird enthusiasts. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $25. The program is open to ages 14 and up. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Saturday - The Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library is holding a magic show with Mark Zacharia at 12:30 p.m. at the library at 30 Station Road in Bayville. The program is open to all ages.
