Berkeley Officials Call for Mandatory Evacuations in Mainland Waterfront Areas

Order began at 7:45 p.m., residents must be out by noon Saturday

Berkeley Township officials have expanded the mandatory evacuation order to include most of the waterfront areas in Bayville, Detective Sgt. James J. Smith said.

The areas include the low-lying areas east of Bayview Avenue and including Bayview Avenue, Harbor Inn Road, Neary Avenue, Good Luck Point, Cedar Beach, Sandpiper Beach, Riveria Beach, Glen Cove, Berkeley Shores, the Toms River Shores riverbank area, homes along the Ocean Gate border, and all homes along Cedar Creek and the Toms River and the bayfront, according to the order signed by Mayor Jason J. Varano and Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele.
