There was plenty of parking available at Double Trouble State Park in Bayville on Saturday, one day after the big freeze and snowstorm.
Only a few visitors braved the still-chilly temperatures. Double Trouble glittered in the brief winter sunshine under a cloudless azure sky. Puffs of snow cascaded from the pines and oaks whenever the wind blew.
The century-old cranberry bogs - flooded when the temperatures dipped - were iced over. Flooding the bogs actually protects the delicate cranberry plants.
Double Trouble's trails and historic buildings - once home to dozens of field workers - are showing their age.
The bogs and woods that once rang with the voices of workers are quiet now, save for people walking their dogs or trudging down the snow-choked paths.
