Young Woman Found Dead in Car at Kmart Plaza

23-year-old female discovered on morning of Aug. 10, police chief says

Police discovered a 23-year-old woman dead in a vehicle parked at the on Route 37 last Wednesday morning, in an incident police said is still under investigation.

No foul play is suspected at this time, said Chief Michael Mastronardy, who did not give out the victim’s name or town of residence.

The woman was discovered around 8:30 a.m. last Wednesday, Aug. 10, said the police chief.

“She was DOA. We believe she drove to the lot Tuesday night or early Wednesday and died there,” he said.

Mastronardy said yesterday autopsy results were not available. It was unclear whether the accident was drug-related or not, he said.

Mastronardy said the woman is not believed to be an employee at any of the businesses in the plaza, or whether she was a customer.

“She parked there at night and was found in the morning,” said Mastronardy.
