Woman Nabbed on Drug Charges Near Bayville Elementary School

Grand juries hand up indictments

 

A South Toms River woman remains lodged in Ocean County Jail on drug charges after being arrested in Berkeley Township.

Shannon M. Knoke, 30, was indicted last week by an Ocean County grand jury that found sufficient evidence to uphold charges on oxycodone charges.

Knoke used fraud to obtain the prescription drug on July 2 and possessed more than an ounce, earning her a possession with intent to distribute charge. Additionally, she was charged with having the drugs while in the vicinity of .

The South Toms River woman was charged with third-degree attempting to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by fraud; third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance; second-degree possession with intent to distribute; and possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance in a school zone.

She is being held on $25,000 bail, no 10 percent option.

Grand juries also indicted: 

  • Jaquan M. Filippi, 19, of South Toms River on a charge of receiving stolen property.

Filippi was in possession of a stolen LG 50-inch television and Nike sneakers in Berkeley and South Toms River on July 3 and 4, the indictment states. Filippi also alegedly fled from police when confronted, earning an obstructing the administration of law charge. 

Filippi was initially jailed on $15,000 bail but posted Sept. 10.

  • Robert A. Beattie, 48, of Toms River on a theft charge.

Beattie allegedly stole buckets of recyclable metals, including copper, brass and chrome plumbing pipes, from a Berkeley resident on Oct. 28, the indictment states. He was released on a summons.

  • Kenneth J. Brabant, 27, of Union Beach on a possession of a controlled dangerous substance charge.

Brabant allegedly possessed heroin in the township on July 27, the indictment states. He was released on a summons.

  • Michael K. Kowalski, 48 of Bayville on theft and dealing in stolen property charges.

Kowalski allegedly stole more than $500 in jewelry from a Toms River woman on Aug. 22 and then sold it. 

He remains lodged in Ocean County Jail on $30,000 bail, no 10 percent option.
