Two Ocean County residents were arrested on heroin possession charges - accompanying 45 bags of the drug - during a drug investigation in Lacey on Friday, police said.
According to police:
The incident began with the traffic stop of a vehicle suspected in a heroin-possession-and-distribution investigation. A review of the scene led to the discovery of 45 bags containing heroin.
The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Alexandria Walker of Oakwood Drive in Forked River, and the sole passenger, 18-year-old Melody Smyers of Constitution Drive were both arrested.
Smyers was charged with possession of heroin and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance while Walker was charged with possession of heroin.
