Two Lacey Residents In Haze Of "Burnt Marijuana" Busted In Berkeley, Police Say

Police say they smelled the odor of "burnt marijuana" when it busted a 19-year-old Lacey man this past week in Berkeley for drug possession.

At 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Ptl. Daniel Williams was on patrol on Veterans Boulevad when he observed a driver of a stopped vehicle toss an object out of the vehicle into the roadway, police said.

Williams stopped this vehicle and spoke to the driver indentified as Kenneth Calpin of Lacey. A passenger was identified as Ashley Jacob, 20, of Lacey.

Upon speaking to Calpin, Williams observed a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the passenger compartment.  Further investigation revealed Calpin to be in possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana.

Jacob was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant in the amount of $1000.00 out of Lacey Township.

Calpin and Jacob were both arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. Calpin was released on a summons and Jacob was able to post bail.  Ptl. Ronald Bondulich also assisted.
