Toms River Man Issued Summons After One-Car Crash On Pinewald-Keswick Road

Accident this morning happened just west of Berkeley Township Police Department

A Toms River man was charged with careless driving and driving while suspended after his car veered off Pinewald-Keswick Road and struck a tree, Detective Sgt. James J. Smith said.

Natale Lacatena, 71, Millbrook Drive, was traveling west on the roadway in a blue mini-van when the car left the roadway at 8:02 a.m., Smith said.

The car struck a Verizon utility box and a tree. The tree toppled and fell across the roadway. Pinewald-Keswick Road was briefly closed until the tree could be removed, he said.

The Pinewald Pioneer Fire Company responded. Lacatena was checked out at the scene by members of the Bayville First Aid Squad, but he refused further medical treatment, Smith said.

The roadway was reopened after the tree was removed, he said.
