Berkeley Township police recently arrested a Toms River man for cashing stolen checks after they were alerted by an area bank, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Patrolman Michael Tier and Sft. James J. Smith responded to TD Bank at 7:50 p.m. on June 24 on a report of stolen checks being cashed, the chief said.

The officers identified two subjects. They arrested Joseph DeSimone, 33, Jackson Avenue, Toms River. DeSimone was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released after posting bail, DiMichele said.
