Suspect in Seaside Heights Weekend Stabbing Arrested

Rifat Pamuk lodged in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $50,000 bail, police say

have arrested a Mount Holly man in connection with a stabbing that occurred early Saturday morning, Detective Steven Korman said.

Rifat Pamuk, 18, Stevens Drive, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, Korman said.

Pamuk was arrested at 3:41 p.m. on Sept. 7 at the Evesham Township police department by Seaside Heights Detectives Luigi Violante and Elijah Bryant, he said.

A 26-year-old man was stabbed in the back of the head during the Sept. 3 confrontation between two groups, which happened at the corner of Kearney Avenue and Ocean Terrace, police have said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, is from Clark. He was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he received stitches for a knife wound to the back of the head. He was treated and later released.

The altercation broke out at roughly 3:31 a.m. on Saturday. The suspect was seen running west on Kearney Avenue, Korman has said.

"The victim and friends were walking east on Kearney, and when they got to Ocean Terrace and Kearney something happened," Korman said. "There were two groups. The outcome was the victim received a knife wound to the back of the head. The victim and a friend ran south on the boardwalk to Sheridan Avenue where they came in contact with Patrolman Scott Keefe."

There was no indication that the incident was gang-related, according to Korman. The site is the same corner as the rented house for MTV's
