Stafford Veterinary Hospital Treating Dog Found Shot In Face, Report Says

Burlington County SPCA investigating, donations needed for dog's care

Stafford Veterinary Hospital is treating a young dog that is believed to have been shot in the face.

An obviously wounded, bleeding dog was rescued by a young couple traveling on Route 9 about 4:30 p.m. Friday in the New Gretna section of Bass River, Burlington County.

Believing the dog had been hit by a car, the couple took the dog to the Stafford Veterinary Hospital for treatment, where veterinarians there determined the dog had a gunshot wound that broke teeth, pierced its tongue and left a bullet lodged in the pup’s neck, said Janice Achey, office manager at the hospital, according to a story in The Asbury Park Press.
