South Toms River Man Arrested In Berkeley For Eluding

A 19-year-old South Toms River man was recently arrested in Berkeley for eluding authorities, police said.

Collin Zahradnik was charged with eluding a police officer and multiple motor vehicle violations, police said.

On Jan. 5, Patrolman Scott Rudolph attempted to stop a vehicle in the Holiday City section of Berkeley Township for a motor vehicle violation. After activating his lights and sirens the suspect vehicle took off and sped away at a high rate of speed, police said.

Before the vehicle took off, Rudolph was able to get the registration number which was determined to be fictitious, police said.

On Jan. 25, Detective Lieutenant Chiorazzi and Detective Mroczka followed up this incident in an attempt to identify the suspect vehicle and operator.

The detectives were able to identify the operator of the vehicle as being Zahradnik.
