Ocean County Sheriff's Office Arrests Three Area Residents In September

Bayville man lodged in Ocean County Jail without bail

 

A Frederick Drive man is being held without bail in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River after he failed to appear in court for sentencing on drug charges, according to the Ocean County Sheriff's Department.

Ernest Floyd Hodges, 38, Bayville, was arrested by an Ocean County Sheriff's Officer and Deputy U.S. Marshal on Sept. 25 in violation of two Ocean County Superior Court warrants. Hodges did not appear for sentencing on original charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance  with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public housing facility, authorities said.

Sheriff's Department officers also arrested two Ocean Gate residents in separate incidents.

• Detectives arrested Desai Amarbhasi, 33, East Long Branch Avenue, on Sept. 10 on a Monmouth County Superior Court warrant for failing to appear for a pre-arraignment interview on charges of writing bad checks. He remains in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $7,500 bail, authorities said.

• Laura Brooks, age 34, of Ocean Gate Drive was arrested on Sept. 12 by detectives on an Ocean County Superior Court warrant for failure to pay child support of $2,678. Brooks paid a partial purge approved by the Ocean County Probation Department was released.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office made 82 arrests in September. Nine were outstanding child support arrears totaling $100,892.
