Police Arrest Two In Connection With Theft Of Wallet At Wawa

The owner of the wallet was on a mission.

He spotted a man and a woman stealing a wallet from his car at 12 p.m. on May  20 at the Wawa on Route 9 in Bayville and phoned police.

"The victim followed the suspects until the arrival of police," Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Sgt. Ryan Roth and Patrolmen John Schneider and Michael Riccardelli soon encountered Dawn Lagnese, 45, Bayville and James Catapano, 56, Forked River, the chief said.

Further investigation revealed that Lagnese committed the burglary and theft of the vehicle and that Catapano received stolen property from her, DiMichele said.

Both subjects were arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing, the chief said.
