Pair Accused of Stealing Identities to Forge Lease

Grand juries hand up indictments

A Brick man and a Manasquan resident have been indicted on charges of impersonating two other men in order to frauduently acquire an apartment lease in Beachwood.

A grand jury upheld charges last week accusing Anthony Giarraffa of Brick and Matteo Gundiano of Manasquan of stealing the identities of two other males in June, which they then allegedly used to forge a lease agreement in Beachwood.

Authories charge the pair with then stealing a variety of items from the landlords they allegedly defrauded, including a refrigerator, freezer, kitchen island, smoke alarms, a vacuum, lawn mower and more. The value of the items was worth more than $500 but less than $75,000.

Additionally, Giarraffa and Gundiano allegedly had possession of a stun gun, as well.

The pair were each charged with impersonation/identity theft, forgery, theft and possession of a stun gun.

Each were initially held on $40,000 bail, no 10 percent option, but posted on May 2.

Grand juries also indicted:

  • Richard J. Kessler of Beachwood on charges of stealing a woman's debit card.

Authorities allege Kessler stole a Wells Fargo Visa debit card in Toms River which he then used from Aug. 22 to Aug. 30.

Kessler was indicted on charges of theft by deception, fraudulent use of a credit card and credit card theft. He was released on a summons.

  • Kevin T. Scott of Bayville on charges of possessing drugs and destroying evidence.

Scott is accused of possessing oxycodone May 6 in Toms River. Grand juries also upheld a charge of possession with intent to distribute for allegedly having less than one ounce of marijuana. Finally, authorities charge Scott with knowingly tampering with evidence to evade detection.

He was released on his own recognizance.
