Ocean Gate Police Looking For Cell Phone Snatcher

Woman caught on store surveillance camera in Ocean Gate Market

Ocean Gate police are hoping that someone has information about a female who filched a black iPhone a customer put down on a counter at the Ocean Gate Market recently.

Patrolman Vincent Larocca responded to the business on Ocean Gate Drive at 8 p.m. on July 24 on a report of a stolen cell phone, Patrolman Barry Wohl said.

"A man left his iPhone on the counter while paying for his belongings," Wohl said. "Two minutes later he realized he had his phone taken."

The story does have a video surveillance tape showing a woman in the store at the same time purchasing a lottery ticket. Unfortunately, the footage is very grainy, he said.

"The review of the video surveillance camera indicates the female got the phone off the counter and ran out of the store," Wohl said. "When the taped footage was reviewed, no one could identify the female."

Anyone with any information about theft should call Detective Michael Kuchta at 732-269-6931.
