Ocean Gate Police Arrest Pennsylvania Man For Drunk Driving, Numerous Other Charges

Aug. 24 arrest took place at intersection of Ocean Gate and East Lakewood avenues, police say

Ocean Gate police have charged a Pennsylvania man with driving under the influence and possession of unprescribed drugs after a motor vehicle stop in the early morning hours of Aug. 24, Patrolman Barry Wohl said.

Daniel Camenzind, 23, Glenolden, PA, has a Sept. 19 date in municipal court. Patrolman Vincent LaRocca charged him with driving under the influence, driving with an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, possession of prescription drugs not lawfully prescribed, failure to produce insurance or registration, failure to maintain lane and failure to wear a seatbelt, Wohl said.

LaRocca was on patrol at 2:24 a.m. when he noticed a 1989 blue Oldsmobile crossing over the central line several times in the area of Ocean Gate and East Lakewood avenues, Wohl said.

When LaRocca pulled Camenzind over, it was clear he was "drunk and impaired" upon observation, Wohl said.

Camenzind had a small bottle of Baccardi in his front pocket and three boxes of Suboxone, an opiate withdrawal medication that requires a prescription, he said.

"He did not have a prescription from a licensed physician for that medication," Wohl said.

Camenzine was processed at police headquarters and later released. His car was impounded, said Wohl.
