Ocean Gate Feud Between Two Women Leads To Separate Assault Arrests

Both altercations ended up on the street on Ocean Gate Avenue

Two Ocean Gate women with a history of feuding will be in municipal court in late June to face simple assault charges against each other, Patrolman Barry Wohl said.

The first incident involving Tammy Holmes, 26 and Cassandra Ferra-Gursky, 18, began at 1 p.m. on May 29, when Patrolman Kristopher Ganley responded to a report of a fight inside Linda's Pizza on Ocean Gate Avenue, Wohl said.

The two women had already left the scene when Ganley arrived. A male witness told Ganley that Holmes had been banging on the restaurant window before she went inside and started an altercation with Ferra-Gursky, Wohl said.

The witness attempted to separate the two. The fight continued outside the restaurant, said Wohl.

"He attempted to separate them and was pushed into the side door of his SUV, causing a large dent in the door," Wohl said. "He was not hurt."

The witness told Ganley that Ferra-Gursky was bleeding and had sustained injuries to her face. A second witness confirmed the details of the incident, Wohl said.

Ganley was able to contact Ferra-Gursky and had her come to police headquarters, where she was observed with marks and bruises on her face, Wohl said.

Holmes later came to police headquarters and was charged with simple assault. She was processed and released, with a municipal court date set for June 20, Wohl said.

The second incident involving the two women occurred at 4:30 p.m. on May 30. Patrolman Andrew Welsh responded to a call of a fight on the street on the 300 block of Ocean Gate Avenue, Wohl said.

The fight - again involving Holmes and Ferra-Gursky - had just broken up when Welsh arrived. Welsh determined that this time Holmes had been assaulted by Ferra-Gursky, Wohl said.

Holmes had injuries to her elbows and knees and was treated at the scene by members of the Ocean Gate Police Department, he said.

Ferra-Gursky was charged with simple assault, and released on her own recognizance. Her date in municipal court is also June 20, Wohl said.

The problems between the two have been "ongoing," he said.

"Both live in town," he said. "They do run across each other."
