County Detectives Arrest Five In Manitou Park Drug Bust

Berkeley Township resident Bary McCombs lodged in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $250,000 cash bail

Five people - including four from Berkeley Township - were arrested on a variety of drug charges after an early morning raid on Nov. 1, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato said.

Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group Northern Enforcement Unit and Berkeley police executed search warrants at two homes in the Manitou Park section believed to be used for a drug distribution operation.

Members of the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department's K-9 unit also assisted in the raid at 58B 2nd Avenue and 62 1st Avenue, Coronato said.

Police seized a quantity of heroin and marijuana packaged for resale, a loaded .380 caliber handgun, electronic scales, packaging materials, items used in the manufacture, packaging and distribution of heroin, and $1,200 in cash, Coronato said.

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

Barry McCombs, 41, of 58 B 2nd Avenue, Berkeley Township, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a controlled dangerous substance offense and possession of drug paraphernalia, the prosecutor said.

Ocean County Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. set McCombs' bail at $250,000 with no ten percent option. He is lodged in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River.

Charles Warford, 55, of 58 B 2nd Avenue, Berkeley Township, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin withi ntent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Warford was released on his own recognizance.

Nicole Surko, 27, of 58 B 2nd Avenue, Berkeley Township, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  She was released on her own recognizance.

Antoine Greene, 35, of 421 Coit Street, Irvington, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Greene was released on his own recognizance.

Christian Myers, 28, of 62 1st Avenue, Berkeley Township, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Myers was released on his own recognizance.
