Man Treated for Hypothermia After Boat Incident at Island Beach State Park

Boat disabled just north of governor's mansion

A man was treated for mild hypothermia after wading ashore from his disabled boat at Island Beach State Park early this morning.

The incident happened about 4:30 a.m., just north of the governor's mansion on the ocean, said Lawrence Hajna, spokesperson for the New Jersey State Parks Police.

"It was cold," Hajna said.

Hajna had no information about the man's name, address, age, type of boat or problem with the boat.

Island Beach State Park Superintendent Mark Pitchell referred all questions to the New Jersey State Park Police.
