UPDATE: Man Charged With Drunk Driving After Crashing Into Guard Rail

Jeffery Elmore of Toms River also faces numerous other charges

Berkeley Township police recently arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after his car crashed into a guard rail and caught on fire, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Sgt. Robert Paul and Patrolmen Ronald Bondulich, Taylor Butler and David Burke responded to the crash at 12:37 a.m. on Nov. 16, near Station Road and Route 9, the chief said.

Jeffery Elmore Jr. 28, Toms River, was pulled to safety by passing motorists and taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center after the crash, DiMichele said.

Elmore was charged with driving with no insurance, careless driving, using fictitious plates and operating an unregistered vehicle, the chief said.

Members of the Bayville First Aid Squad, Bayville Volunteer Fire Department and MONOC paramedics assisted, DiMichele said.
