Grand Jury Indicts Five Arrested In Major Bayville Drug Bust

Seized heroin had a street value ranging from $22,500 to $37,500 and was capable of producing over 4,000 individual heroin doses

An Ocean County Grand Jury has indicted five persons after a heroin bust on Rosewood Drive in Bayville this summer, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato said.

The arrests date back to June 27, when detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group and Berkeley Township police raided the home in the Glen Cove section of Bayville.

Indicted were:

Garen L. Luckey, Jr., 23, Joanna L. Luckey, 26 and Dayzjuwon Johnson, 22. All three lived at the Rosewood Drive address.

All three were indicted for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), namely heroin; possession with intent to distribute a CDS (heroin); maintaining a CDS production facility and maintaining a fortified structure, according to the indictment. Their bails were all set at $250,000 apiece, with no ten percent option.

William J. Kablis, 28, Buckingham Drive, Manchester Township and Anthony J. Schroen, 27, Joanna Drive, Toms River were indicted for purposely conspiring  to possess heroin and for purposely attempting to possess heroin in Berkeley Township, according to the indictment.

Kablis and Schroen were released on their own recognizance after their arrests.

Police seized approximately 100 grams of heroin, assorted paraphernalia used during the manufacturing, production and distribution of heroin, 4200 new wax folds used to package heroin, cutting agents, assorted sifters, scales, stamps, electric grinders, and mixers, according to the prosecutor's office.

The maintaining a fortified residence refers to a structure used for "an illegal purpose that has outside surveillance equipment, reinforced entry ways, in some cases booby traps, or anything that would warn the defendants of law enforcement presence or impede law enforcement access to the dwelling," said Al DellaFave, spokesman for the Prosecutor's Office.

The Rosewood Drive residence was equipped with a video monitoring system to alert the occupants of anyone approaching the front door of the residence. The seized heroin had a street value ranging from $22,500 to $37,500, and was capable of producing over 4,000 individual heroin doses.

The Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s department K-9 Unit also assisted in the investigation.
