'Jersey Shore' Cast Member Arrested on Disorderly Conduct Charge in Seaside Heights

Deena Cortese disrupted traffic, police say.

A cast member of the Jersey Shore show was arrested this afternoon in Seaside Heights after a police officer saw her appearing intoxicated and disrupting the flow of traffic, Detective Steven Korman said.

Deena Cortese, 25, of New Egypt, was charged with disorderly conduct after the 3:48 p.m. incident, he said.

Cortese and some other Jersey Shore cast members were in Spicy's Mexican Cantina at 500 Boardwalk near the intersection of Sumner Avenue and Ocean Terrace before the incident occurred, he said.

Cortese went outside and started dancing in the middle of the street, disrupting the flow of traffic, he said.

"Patrolman Chris Linnell placed her under arrest," Korman said. "Traffic was building up and the officer had to act, obviously."

At work I often talk to customer/vendors from other parts of the country and by far the most painful thing I am confronted with is how many of them think everyone at the Jersey shore (or just Jersey) is like these moronic a$$ clowns. I am tired of explaining that most of the cast isn't from Jersey, most of us don't act like them and it's just called Jersey Shore because that is where the show was based. I then have to explain what a Bennie is and that these clowns are the worst examples of Bennies. I can't wait till this show slips away for good.
lifelonginbrick June 11, 2012 at 08:46 pm
Now I actually find that pretty impressive since I didn't think any of the cast members would be able to read much less memorize a script.
lifelonginbrick June 11, 2012 at 08:50 pm
It wasn't the dancing it was the location, like the middle of the road blocking traffic.
lifelonginbrick June 11, 2012 at 08:56 pm
Agreed. It's not just this show but most 'reality' shows on TV. There is a reality TV show for just about everthing these days. It's like people want to come home from work and then watch hours of other people working. The main reason is that these shows are very cheap. No writers, no set to design, no wardrobe just a camera crew following some obnoxious morons proding them to do or say something stupid. There are no big star salaries to shell out. I understand why there is a reality show about a bug exterminator but will never understand why anyone would want to watch it.

Were any of these customer/vendors from other parts of the country giving any thought to visiting the Jersey Shore?
Scott June 11, 2012 at 10:34 pm
I am so sick of idiots like the Jersey shore cast and those other idiots the real Jersey housewives . They make me feel ashamed to say im from Jersey. The real Jersey housewives Give me a break , theres nothing real about them.Just a bunch of stupid Bimbos.

All talk no action! Ocean County pride yay! Not! First off cable is not welcomed in my family's home. It's trash!Just like the homelessness issue, among other issues in this county most of the people who complained on here would leave me by myself if a call to protest was in order! Everyone wants to complain in this county, but are too obviously lazy to stand out,so unfortunately these issues will remain!

It's called the Jersey Shore but you never see them on the beach. I hear it's because Snooki and Deena aren't allowed in the water because they take all the smell out of the fish.
JOHNNY Done it June 12, 2012 at 02:44 am
What a bunch of losers do something productive instead of acting like an idiot on TV & in public ,Volunteer your time in a hospital or a needy cause
lifelonginbrick June 12, 2012 at 11:14 am
Mac, not that I know of. One guy made the mistake of saying "Hey Snookie" when he found out I was calling from Jersey. Good grief. Other shows like Jerseylicious and House wifes of NJ don't help the NJ image much either.
Suzie A. June 12, 2012 at 01:13 pm
I too have received phone calls from customers from other states. They always have a comment about "Jersey Shore". I do my best to convince them we are all not like that and I actually live in a family friendly community with nice people.

Miriam, who posted at 7:12 pm, on Monday, June 11, 2012, NEEDS to switch to decaffeinated coffee. Hey, Miriam, complaining IS in The Bill of Rights, you know.
You'll find complaining in the First Amendment, under Freedom of Speech! I spent four (4) years in the U.S. military, believe me, complaining is a way of life, there!

Want to bet that the cast is told that while there are down there to cause a seine, get arrested, we will cover your legal expense etc. just draw attention to your self and the show.

I hate everything about them and the show and all the protection they have so they dnt get hit or beat up. i wouldn't spit on them cause they don't deserve a REAL jersey shore person spitting on them. they would rub it in wishing to be a REAL jersey shorian (dnt know if word). They give ud such a bad name, look, etc.
Christina June 21, 2012 at 03:49 pm
Ok Lee Lee let me know if you live there all year round because my 90 year old nana does and I'm there all the time and it is not just welfare, drug dealers and scum. My nana worked the boardwalk til she was 85 and enjoys living there. So live there before you speak you ignorant person.
Carolina Shores June 21, 2012 at 05:09 pm
@ Christina, I lived there for 3 years. It's a very scary place. A VERY SCARY PLACE. No one raising a family should live there. I really fell sorry for the family's that do live there because their children never have the same classmates the following year because the mothers on welfare never stay. Hence, difference students every year.
barbara June 21, 2012 at 10:21 pm
Well said Christina. There are plenty of people who live there who are not welfare moms. Unfortunately, these motels take in the ones who are and they ruin it for the entire town and give the good people who live there a bad reputation.

If you talk to people in other states they think that it is how we live at the shore. This is what upsets people who have been here for years. We all know point is for families and seaside for bennies. So, jack up all prices to the max and us locals use point for the shore. Let the bennies stay there just stay out of Brick we have our own problems here.

Hi Pat: Thank you so much for your time & efforts. You know how important I feel a free,Read More independent and viable press is. Freedom of the press is one of our countires most vital rights and needs to be protected, literally at all costs. Without the ability for the average citizen to investigate, critiicise, praise and comment on government, business, education and all facets of our lives the Great American Democracy would not exist - even if it does produce annonymous curmudgeons like the Chief and the rest of the fan club. ;-) That being said, the digital media world is still trying to find its way into a viable business model. I was very excited about the 'hyper' local idea of the Patch, but the challenges you mentioned are real. However, I do feel based on my dealing with the Patch on several levels (blogger, community person & advertiser) the corporate leadership does not quite get the 'hyper-local' idea - they like it only if it produces revenue. What comes firt guys, the classic 'chicken or the egg'. Advertising is all about numbers, and in our community that was tough to overcome - I see both sides. It was a pleasure having a 'hometown' reporter that actually had the knowledge, perspective and understanding of our community as only one that lives here can. You will be missed on these pages, but it will be still be good to see you around town! So good luck to you in Lacey & Barnegat, Ill be happy to share any of my contacts, never dull there either! all three siddons lost. Kukla Fran and Ollie... you ran for revenge and not for the people. itRead More showed and you lost.
Brian Wilson June 6, 2013 at 02:12 pm
Quit whining, Fran. You were always just in it for yourself. You wanted to be "CouncilwomanRead More Fran Siddons." Most people saw right through you. You biggest mistake was believing your inflated sense of self.
Terry LiCausi June 7, 2013 at 02:43 pm
Why couldn't you just write a classy speech, you chose to look like a sore loser once again. YouRead More listed reasons for losing and you and I both, know you tried to talk to the board workers and the Republican Challenger had to ask you to stop. You stood right outside the doors and tried to talk to voters also, you did this at all the polling places. You had 3 challengers to 1 republican challenger at the polls, so how could all that you say get done. Why didn't they call the election board? Come on Fran, just admit the people DO REMEMBER and that is why you lost.
