Bayville Man Charged With Aggravated Assault in Early Morning Baseball Bat Attack

Suspect to undergo psychiatric evaluation before being transported to Ocean County Jail

Police have charged a 25-year-old Bayville man with aggravated assault after he attacked a woman with a baseball bat in a Colton Court home, Detective Sgt. James Smith said.

Christopher Shone fled the residence after the attack, which was reported at 12:30 a.m. by a female resident. He was apprehended in the woods near the home at 2 Colton Court in the Bayville section of the township shortly after, Smith said.

The 19-year old victim was apparently sleeping when Shone walked into the room and struck her in the head with a baseball bat, Smith said.
