Driver Hospitalized After Hitting Traffic Light Pole In Berkeley

A driver was hospitalized this week after hitting a traffic light pole in Berkeley Township, police said.

On June 13 at 1:30 p.m., the Berkeley Police responded to the intersection of Moorage Ave and Rt 9 for a one car motor vehicle crash, police said.

Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle that had run into a traffic light pole, which then fell on to power wires.

Traffic on Route 9 was detoured until the state Department of Transportation fixed the light.

The driver was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River.
