The Wells Fargo Bank on Route 9 South is open for business, after a bomb scare earlier this morning, Detective Sgt. James J. Smith said.
Staff members who arrived at the bank around 7:30 this morning found a message written in black magic marker on the back door that a bomb was in the building, he said.
Officers from the Berkeley Township Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Ocean County Sheriff's Office and the FBI responded, he said.
After a three-hour search, authorities concluded there was "obviously" no bomb in the building and the bank was opened for business, Smith said.
Anyone with any information about the incident should call the police department at 732-341-6600 and ask for Smith or Detective Joseph Santoro.
